Tamiya's 1/48 scale
Canadian P-51D Mustang

Description
This is my Canadian P-51D, using the 1/48th Tamiya kit and CanMilAir decals, a product of Canada.
I used Testor's enamel "Guards Red" for the trim, with Floquil Old Silver for the base coat and Alclad II for the travel portion of the flaps and gun access doors.
A little weathering with medium gray acrylic paint along the wing roots and some pastel powder for exhaust streaking brought the bird to life. I opted for Ultracast's Mustang wheels and late Mustang seat.
It took lots of masking and spraying to get the red panels in place but to me, they really add to the model. A late Mustang prop was also added to the kit.
Tamiya's kit is certainly state-of-the-art and was a pleasure to build.
A full-build article will be appearing in an upcoming issue of Random Thoughts, the Canadian IPMS publication.
